About

Praatbox is a small Dutch team with a sharp idea about support.

Most chat tools are forms with a smiley face. We think the inbox of the future answers itself — and the part that doesn't, gets handled by a human who already has full context.

Why we built it

In 2024 our co-founder Anouk was running customer experience at Glodinas Finance. Three SaaS tools. Two part-time agents. Twelve hours a week of repeated questions about office addresses, opening hours, and refund policy. She wanted one box that read the docs, answered the obvious, and got out of the way for the rest.

We built it for her. Then for ten more teams. Then opened it up.

Where we are

Singel 542, 1017 AZ Amsterdam — a converted boat-builders' workshop on the canal, ten minutes' walk from Centraal Station. Drop by; we have good coffee.

The team

Twelve people. Engineering, design, customer success, ops. We are not raising. We are not hiring a CRO. We are profitable and intend to stay that way.

What we believe

  • Software should answer questions, not generate more.
  • Defaults beat dashboards. The best feature is one you don't have to configure.
  • Email is fine. Slack is optional. Most meetings could be a Loom.
  • EU hosting is not a feature, it's a baseline.
  • The best support team is invisible — because the questions got answered before they reached a queue.
